Maria Izilda's story

Maria Izilda José M. was born in the city of Maputo, in the province of the same name in the south of Mozambique. She is unmarried and has one child who is in school. Maria only studied through 7th grade, and didn't continue because of a lack of financial resources. She lives with her family in their own house and supports her mother and sister who live with her. Maria still lives in Maputo, where she has worked raising chickens to sell for food for more than 4 years. She has no employees and makes a profit of around 25,000 to 30,000 Meticais per month, which she uses to cover household expenses. She also saves some in her bank account. Maria has taken out loans in the past with PROCREDIT and repaid them as promised. She found out about Hluvuku [the Kiva Field Partner] through neighbors and colleagues who also work raising chickens. This is her 1st loan, for the amount of 30,000 Meticais. She plans to use this money to buy baby chicks and feed in order to increase her stock of animals. She is confident that she will repay the loan as indicated. In the future she would like to apply for more loans to finish work on her house.
