A loan helped a member to repair a rickshaw.

Kalsoom's Group's story

Kalsoom lives in an industrial city of Pakistan called Gujranwala. She is a 32-year-old housewife as well as a businesswoman who supports her family by doing sewing. She collects orders from her neighborhood clients and supplies the finished goods on time to earn an income. Her business is doing well and she earns a reasonable income from it every month.

She is the mother of a son and two daughters. Her eldest, a son, is studying in 3rd standard and her daughters are in 2nd and kindergarten respectively.

Her husband is a rickshaw driver by trade. He drives a rickshaw to support the family. He has been in this line of work for the past 5 years. His rickshaw is his only source of income because he doesn’t have any other work experience. But now his rickshaw is creating problems for him because its engine is not working well and requires maintenance.

Therefore, Kalsoom has applied for a loan from Asasah. With the loan amount he will repair his rickshaw and put it back in working condition. Kalsoom is confident that the completely overhauled rickshaw will help her husband work efficiently.

She is a regular loan user of Asasah and is on her 3rd loan. In previous years she has maintained a good credit record and never missed any meeting.

Note: In the picture, the lady who is holding a book (called an Asasah Passbook) in her hand is Kalsoom.
