A loan of $1,100 helped to buy a chair for cutting hair.

María Del Rosario's story

In the city of Santa Ana, known for its beautiful landscape and for its lovely fresh water spas which are visited by many tourists, the members of the "Nueva Luz" (New Light) Communal Bank meet every fortnight.

María is the Bank's treasurer, a responsibility that she has taken on since the Bank began, she says that she really likes the additional benefits that the Espoir Foundation offers.

She is 49 years old, and has been married for 28 years and has 4 children, three who still live with her. Her husband is an agricultural expert and has several temporary jobs with his profession. She is studying beauty at the Romero Bastidas Academy which belongs to the Manabí Technical University.

She has had a beauty clinic for several years, and she works every day from 8am until 6pm with the help of her daughter. She has a lot of clients who prefer her because of the good work that she does. In addition she sells beauty and personal care products.

With this loan she wants to buy a chair for cutting hair as she only has one and she really needs another. Her dreams are to travel and to specialize as a stylist.
