A loan of $500 helped to buy corn, manure and fertilizers.

Jose Valentin's story

José, 52, lives in San Rafael Oriente, San Miguel with his wife and two daughters who are 18 and 20 years of age and depend on him economically.

José is a farmer. He’s been farming from a very young age ever since he learned from his bosses how to plant corn. He doesn’t have a fixed work schedule and he currently is facing difficulties in having capital available to plant and help his family meet their expenses.

He needs a loan in order to buy farming supplies like corn, manure and fertilizers in order to plant.

The loan will be of great use to him because he will have the necessary resources to do a good job with the land. The only problem would be if some natural disaster were to occur that would damage his crops. Otherwise, he will obtain a good harvest because he will provide proper care thus obtaining higher income to meet family expenses.

His dream is to have his family succeed, to provide them with a better quality of life and to see his daughters’ education unfold properly.
