A loan of $1,200 helped to invest in a bakery business.

Salome's story

Salome S. H., age 21, lives in the Thoqo Thoqo community in the Mizque province, Cochabamba department. She has two children. The father of her first child left them due to an accident. She had to leave her second husband because he mistreated her and her children. She now has to support and feed her two children by herself.

Due to this season’s natural draught disaster, her small parcel of onions did not ripen well. This disaster caused a failure in the income she was expecting.

Salome is very well-liked and respected in the place where she lives because of her dedication to her children and her work. Sometimes she even has to work in agriculture as a day worker to earn some pesos to support her two children.

She is requesting the loan to open a business. She will open a bakery store in the place where she lives to improve her income and to give her children a better quality of life. Then her children will be able to go to school under better conditions. The loan will greatly help her and her children in the hard work that she does.
