A loan of $375 helped to buy fertilizer for his coffee and pineapple plantations.

Maximo's story

Máximo is 46 years old and married with two children. The family resides in their own home on the edge of the Peruvian jungle in the town of Quimbiri.

Máximo has always enjoyed excelling in any opportunity that presents itself. For example, coffee grows naturally in the valley where he lives, so that's why he grows coffee. It is one of the most sought after products in the market so it is advantageous to engage in the coffee growing business. Máximo favors growing coffee because its sales produce good earnings in order to support his family. He is also involved in other businesses such as producing and marketing pineapple, thus diversifiying his products to keep ahead of other competitors.

Máximo is usually self-employed, but he sometimes gets help from his wife. However, when it is sowing and harvest season, he has workers to help him harvest the crop, which is later sold in the collection centers in the area.

This is Máximo's fourth loan with MFP and he is committed to completing his payments on time. He is also happy to work with his community bank because of its good performance. With the requested loan, he plans to invest in properly maintaining his coffee and pineapple plantations by purchasing agricultural inputs and fertilizer.
