Javier Esteban's story

Javier L. is the owner of the “Tienda la Renovación” store, in the Malambo municipality, a metropolitan area of Barranquilla. He lives in Barranquilla with his partner and their two children ages 12 and 14. He started with over 13 years of experience from working as an employee at a food market in downtown Barranquilla. After that, he and his sister started up a store which they ran for a few years, until he decided to become independent and start his own venture, taking advantage of this experience which he now applies to his business. In his store "La Renovación" ["Renewal"], he also sells varied merchandise. He works with his wife, the driving force behind the store, and they are very well-known throughout the municipality. This is his first loan with
Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, and he was referred by two excellent borrowers of this organization. With this loan obtained from Kiva, he plans to enter into the areas of disposable paper, piñata sales and candy sales. This will promote an increase in his customer base during the holidays, which are fast approaching. His goal is to acquire his own location and include wholesale distribution to offer home services. Another goal is to see his children reach the professional level, and especially to see them successfully linked to a large company.
