A loan of $1,725 helped a member to purchase additional products to sell.

Wilson's Group's story

Wilson C., from the village of San Roque, is the 37-year-old group leader of a six-member group loan offered by ASKI. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. The official name of this borrowing group is Wilson C.'s Group.

Wilson, who is married and has two school-aged children, owns and operates a general store selling a variety of products in the local community. Engaged in her business for over five years, she earns approximately 6000 PHP a month.

In 2008, Wilson joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Having repaid her previous loan of 15,000 PHP from ASKI that was used to purchase new items to expand product offering, she is now requesting a new loan, her fifth, of 17000 PHP to purchase additional products to sell. Wilson plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay the tuition fees of her children.
