A loan of $900 helped fertilizer.

Norma's story

Norma is 62 years old and has always struggled to get ahead in her life. She lives in her own home with her husband, 63 year old Antonio, and her 28 year old son Isaac. They are her motivation for her efforts.

She has managed to make her crop of peas and potatoes one of the best in the village of Huaylahuichan. Early every morning she goes out to work on her crops, because she knows that it's very important that they be well cared for. What she enjoys most about her work is that it gives her the freedom to make her own decisions.

She's been doing this for 35 years and she considers transporting her products to the city of Tarma to be the most challenging part. She subsequently wants to buy more land so that she can increase her production.

This will be her seventh loan through MFP and she feels obligated to make all of her payments on time, because she doesn't want to cause any problems for her communal bank, where she is well liked and advised by the other members. She will use the 2,500 PEN ($900) from this loan to buy more fertilizer to improve her crops.
