A loan of $475 helped buy sacks of fertilizer.

Melania's story

Melanie, age 53, is a very unassuming and hard-working woman. She lives in her own house with her 51 year old husband, Héctor, and her 16 year old son, Bryan. She wants to give them a better future. With a great deal of effort Melania has managed to work her fields and have them be productive again. She grows potatoes, peas, carrots, and beans. These products are taken to sell at the wholesale market in the city of Tarma.

Her crops have given her the necessary income to support her family. Therefore, she wants to put all of her efforts into getting this business ahead. What she likes most about her work is taking care of her crops. She has been doing this for 30 years. The most difficult part is transporting her products to Tarma. The sacks that she takes there are very heavy and make her very tired. In the future she wishes to buy new fields to increase her production.

This is her fourth loan with MFP. She has been very punctual with her previous loans, and she plans being punctual with this loan as well. She is a very active participant in her communal bank, and she is up on all of the agreements the group has come to. She will use the requested 1,300 soles to buy more fertilizer for her crops.
