Mujeres Buscando Un Futuro Group's story

Consuelo is 40 years old and lives in San Martin D. Porres, in Lima, Peru. She has 3 children and used to work in her mother's small grocery store. With that work experience, when Consuelo moved to her own house she decided to run her own small store from her home. She thought that this would allow her to work without neglecting her children, and it has worked out well for her.

Her best days in terms of sales are on the weekends. She sells all kinds of products but drinks and food items sell the best. Consuelo also has some additional income from renting out apartments on the second floor of her house. With the money she earns she is making some improvements to one of the units she will be renting out, and she also uses her income to support her children's education.

Consuelo would like to study cosmetology because her dream is to set up a beauty salon in one of the rooms of her house, which she is remodeling for that purpose. She will use this loan to make improvements to one of the apartments she rents out. Consuelo is the treasurer of the “Mujeres buscando un futuro” [Women looking for a future] group, which has 10 members.
