A loan of $1,075 helped to buy 5 sacks of pea seeds.

Marcela's story

Marcela, 39, is a very cheerful and hardworking woman. She lives in her own home with her husband Oscar, 29, and she works with him on a farm. Together, they want to provide a better life for their beloved son, Aldair. Working arduously each day in their fields, Marcela is changing their lives. With her husband she plants beans, corn, and gladioli, which they sell in the markets of Tarma and La Merced, since this is where they can obtain the best prices. What she likes most about her work is to care for the plantings so that they remain free of diseases and pests. She has been doing this work for 19 years, and what she considers most difficult is to take her products to the markets where they are sold, since she must carry sacks that are very heavy. In the future, she hopes to improve her crops and in this way obtain better prices. This is her 8th loan with MFP, and she feels that this loan will be very beneficial in helping her to grow as a farmer. In her communal bank she is a very active and cooperative member. With the 3,000 Peruvian soles that she requests, she will buy 5 sacks of pea seeds. She will use all of the loan proceeds this way, since each sack is costing her 600 soles.
