Carmelita's story

Carmelita C. is from the village of Parog Parog, Solana, Cagayan. She is 55 years old and married with seven adult children. To make a living, Carmelita runs a general store selling daily-use products such as shampoo, soap and toothpaste. Carmelita has been engaged in her business for over five years and earns approximately 5200 PHP a month.

Carmelita joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan of 22000 PHP from ASKI and is requesting a new loan of 24000 PHP to purchase additional products to sell. This loan will be the seventh loan taken out by Carmelita from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to make improvements to her house.

About ASKI: ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 29 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolk, and small entrepreneurs.
