Mti Mrefu Group's story

Mary C., who is in her early forties, is married with three children who are in school. She has operated a pharmacy shop since 2008. She works from 8am to 8 pm daily and she is able to make a monthly profit of about US$ 197. This will be Mary’s 1st "motisha" loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. A "motisha" loan is a product offered by Tujijenge Tanzania that allows borrowers with good credit ratings to pay back their original loans faster and receive extra money before their original loan term has ended. She will use this loan to buy more medicines. Her dream is to start selling medicines at wholesale prices. Mary will share this loan with her loan group, Mti Mrefu, which has 10 members.
