A loan of $4,250 helped a member to buy firewood and palm oil.

Sobbeya Group's story

The Solidarity group SOBBEYA was set up over 9 years ago. The group is made up of 11 women who all come from the same neighborhood. They have come together as friends and neighbors. The solidarity group is a part of the Kadior "banc villageois."

Mrs. Aminata S., standing on the left of the photo, is the group's leader. She is 44 years old, married, and the mother of 2 children. She has begun a small business selling firewood and palm oil. She gets her supplies in the villages and re-sells them in the town of Ziguinchor. She is quite experienced in this activity, which she has carried out for more than 5 years. With the new loan, she can increase her stock of merchandise (firewood and palm oil) so as to make more profit. Her goal is to increase her revenue so that she can better meet her family's daily needs.

In this group: Mby, Aminata, Kadessa, Yama, Aissatou, Sounkarou, Saly, Mariama Dalanda, Agna, Abibatou*, Aissatou*
