Lion Group's story

Pictured here are members of Lion group. They are women with small-scale businesses who are based in Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They are seeking a loan of SLL 500,000 each to enable them to further expand their businesses. Consequently, they will make more profit and improve on their standard of living. The leader of this group is Isatu S. who is age forty-five and was born in Sanda village. She is married with three children and her husband is a photographer. Her children are attending primary and secondary schools. For five years now, Isatu has been selling rice and palm-oil. With this loan, she will expand her business by buying more rice and palm-oil to add to her current stock.
