Bok Xalaat Group's story

The solidarity group Bok Xalaat was created on December 4, 2007. It is made up of 10 women who are all from the same neighborhood. They know each other from friendship and neighborly ties.

Mrs. Fatma Thioubou D., standing on the right side in the photo, wearing a Grand Boubou made of thioup, is the group's leader. She is 57 years old. She is married and has 9 children.

She buys mattresses and chairs that she rents. In addition, she also sells bottled butane gas. She raises chickens for their meat (in groups of 50). She has been doing this for 5 years.

With her loan she is going to buy more chairs and mattresses, along with baby chicks and chicken feed.
Her goal is to increase her sales and to help take care of her family's expenses. She would also like to buy a tarp so she can make a tent and rent it out.

In this group: Fatma Thioubou, Fatou, Besse, Fatou Bintou, Mareme, Fatim, Awa, Awa
