A loan of $725 helped to buy guinea pig feed.

Maria's story

María, 46, is an unassuming, cheerful woman. She lives in her own house and what she most desires is to improve her quality of life.

She was taught as a very young girl to work at everything to reach her goals. She currently sells alfalfa and guinea pigs which she herself grows and raises, respectively. In addition to these activities, she also makes cheese and manjar (sweet bread spread similar to cake frosting) that her sister helps her with to take into Lima to sell.

What she likes most about her work is raising guinea pigs which she does lovingly. She’s been in this line of work for 16 years and hopes her business will continue to grow so that it will produce higher income for the family.

This is her 10th loan with MFP and she’s willing to repay all her installments on time because she doesn’t want to cause any problems for her communal group where she is very supportive of her fellow members.

She will use the requested 2000 new soles to buy feed for the guinea pigs since this activity is the one that generates the best income for her.
