A loan of $200 helped to buy sheets of zinc to fix the roof of her house, which is old and leaky, and needs to be improved.

Mayra Sonia's story

Mayra is a 54 year old woman who has a business selling clothing, working as a seamstress, and selling ice cream and ice in her home, striving to earn more income to help her three children. Her husband works as a guard earning a low wage, so Mayra has to work in order to improve their living conditions.

After much effort and hard work, they have succeeded in building their home. Today the roof of the house needs to be changed because it is very old and in bad condition for the rain that will come this winter. Mayra does not have the money needed to make these improvements.

Through Afodenic, she was able to increase her clothing inventory, since it is her second loan cycle, from which she will now be able to make the improvements to the roof. She is buying sheets of zinc, screws, and wood to be able to make the change.
