A loan of $725 helped to buy fruit and other ingredients for ice cream.

Mely's story

Mely, 28, is single and has two children: Jhordy and Lucero, who are 8 and 7 years of age respectively. They live together in the beautiful Cusco backcountry in Quimbiri where they own their own house.

Mely sells frozen treats, a business that is yielding good economic results. She recalls that she began this activity while still an adolescent when she helped sell the frozen treats her parents manufactured. Today, with her own business, she is doing very well and she is grateful to her parents for the success she is having. Besides, her most demanding customers are satisfied with the incomparable flavor of her product compared to the competition.

She usually works with two collaborators so that manufacture can proceed more quickly and sales occur in her own location. Her plan for the future is to expand her business, to purchase new machinery in order to increase production and generate considerable income.

This is her 3rd loan with MFP and she pledges to repay in a timely fashion. Besides, she’s committed to her communal group because she obtains quite a few favorable advantages.

She will use the funds to invest in her ice cream shop buying all kinds of fruit, sugar, milk and honey to make her products.
