Blanca Josefina's story

Blanca Josefina C. lives on the outskirts of the city of Azogues, the capital of the Cañar province, located at the mouth of the river Paute. Its people weave dresses, work in pottery, etc. Its church is located on the highest point and is the main tourist attraction.

Blanca is 49 years old and has four children, ages 24, 22, 17, and 10. Her two oldest work and help her mother financially. They are also students at the university. Her third son attends the city college, and her youngest attends elementary school. Her husband is a mechanic and has his own garage. They live in their own home, which was built, thanks to their hard work and sacrifice.

Blanca sells clothing through a catalog. She's been doing this for a year and doesn't have a regular work schedule. She sells in her spare time because she is also a homemaker.

This will be her second loan through the foundation. She was a friend of the communal bank members, which motivated her to become a part of this group of entrepreneurial women. She will use the money from this new loan, though Fundacion Espoir, to invest in clothing in order to have a greater variety to offer. Her dream is to travel the world.
