Gunthanan's story

Gunthanan is a local married woman who lives in a rural community in northeast Thailand with her husband, son, and grandchild. Her family earns a living by growing jasmine rice, raising frogs, and running a food stall at school.

She loves to work in the agricultural sector. She has been focused on a few agricultural activities, such as rice farming and especially frog raising. She initiated the frog raising three years ago. Her neighbor taught and inspired her to raise frogs. During the period, she desires to increase the number of frogs on her farm in order to meet market demand. Therefore, she sought financing and then applied for a Kiva loan to purchase frog breeds, feed, and materials to expand her frog farm.

This loan will allow her to expand her business while also supporting her as a local woman entrepreneur. In the future, she desires to expand the business accordingly and see the standard of living of her family improved.
