Ineza Group's story

Bernadette K. is a 30 year-old shopkeeper who lives in the Bwiza neighborhood of Bujumbura Mairie. She has been selling pagnes (traditional sarong-like clothing) for women at the Bujumbura Market for a year. She attended school up to the sixth grade of elementary school. Her husband, Joseph M. is also a shopkeeper, selling spare parts for vehicles. She is on her third group loan cycle with Turame. She is the mother of 3 children who are in school. She is asking for a Kiva loan so she can have a larger quantity of pagnes to sell in the hopes of making a large profit. She hopes to save some money to cover the school expenses of her children and to build her own house. She is one of the members of the community group “INEZA.”
