Astrith Candela's story

Astrith is very serious about her work. Not even the traffic accident that caused her fractures and required reconstructive surgery on her feet caused her to stop working. She is a very entrepreneurial woman and the mother of three children, between the ages of 18 and 26, for whom she has made a great daily effort. She has earned her position as mother head of the household through the work she has done. She began selling coffee and aromatic drinks door to door and in shopping centers. After she had the accident mentioned earlier, she began selling again before she was completely recovered. Now she has a business where she sells cosmetics through catalogs and has been getting encouragement from “Fundación Mario Santo Domingo” for the past four years.

She will use the money from this Kiva loan to buy shoes and other items that are being offered at a discount through her catalog; items such as perfumes, creams, nail polish, eyeliners, mascara, and hair treatments. This will allow her to increase her working capital because she hopes to be able to get a house in a good location so that she can run her store from there and move toward prosperity.
