Las Vegas Group's story

The Las Vegas village bank is currently in its sixth loan cycle. Its hardworking, enterprising members are always looking for opportunities to improve their lives and work daily to provide a better future for their children. The group meets every thirty days in the main office of the Institución de Microfinanzas Arariwa, located in the Wanchaq district of Cusco province. Most of the members sell products for a living.

Kathia is 36 years old and lives in the city of Cusco, where she was born, with her partner and their three children. Kathia sells clothing, perfumes, and jewelry to friends, neighbors, and workers in public and private institutions. She travels to the cities of Lima and Tacna twice in order to purchase more merchandise. She sells from home seven days a week, from 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon.

For her next loan, Kathia hopes to receive 1000 soles. At the moment her store is modestly stocked with the basic necessities. She'd like to use the loan to buy jewelry, clothing, and much more. Kathia is one of the founding members of the village bank and is punctual and responsible with her payments.
