Papase'ea's story

Papase'ea is a 26-year-old mother of two children. She is married to a carpenter and they live in a little hut at her in-law's backyard. Papase'ea is helped by her mother-in-law in weaving and preparing of her raw pandanus, so to help with their living. They live in different houses but it is Papase'ea and her husband that provide for them.

Together they weave taovala, mats and fihu, then sell it out to earn income. Her husband's wages cannot cover their expenses, but with Papase'ea's business, they are able to cover their expenses and save some income for their dream of building a better house for their family. She applies for this loan to buy pandanus and also hire a group of women to weave for her.
