A loan helped a member to buy animal feed.

Xuan Lao 6 Group's story

This story about Dom, a Thai ethnic minority woman who is almost 50 years old and who has been widowed for many years. She lives with her older sister in a small temporary house in the northwest mountainous of Vietnam where agriculture is the main income for local people.

Life without her husband and children sometimes makes Dom lonely, but it also makes her stronger. She is always optimistic and works hard to help herself get out of poverty and be useful to the community.

With an aim to further develop her business, she has an idea to expand her livestock, but the main hardship is lack of capital. Luckily, she has known and has joined the Anh Chi Em program which has supported Dom many times in her life. This time, she decided to borrow a loan to buy animal feed for her livestock.

Dom thanks Kiva lenders and the Anh Chi Em program for this opportunity. She plans to use the profit to repair her temporary house, buy a motorbike for business and have savings for old age.

In the photo, Dom stands the first from the far left with light blue shirt.
