A loan of $1,200 helped purchase fertilizer and seed.

Lucio's story

Lucio B. F. is a 41-year-old who lives with his wife and 4 children in a community called Santa Fe, located in Los Chiles, in the Alajuela province. This community is known for being a mountainous area that is very close to the northern border of this country. Its main economic activities are stockbreeding and agriculture, particularly staple grains, sugar cane, and oranges.

Mr. Lucio has always been known as a courageous and hard-working man. He has been in agriculture his entire life, growing all types of crops. This has allowed him to gain a source of income with which he has been able to provide for his family.

In order to continue with his business, Mr. Lucio needs a ¢604.000 CRC loan so that he can purchase the supplies he needs to maintain his 2 hectares of farmland on which he grows cassava, malanga (a yam-like root vegetable), beans, and corn.

Mr. Lucio is a member of the Crédito Comunal Manantial de Santa Fe company, one of the 100 organizations that have a partnership with EDESA in Costa Rica. This will be his second loan, and with it, he hopes to keep expanding so that he can provide his son with a better future.
