Abdumumin's story

N. Abdumumin is 52 years old. He is married with four children of school age.

Abdumumin is a manufacturer. He produces wooden doors and window frames. His shop is located in his house. By working in the business for eight years, Abdumumin has become a rather experienced master. He now has students to whom he teaches the business.

Because he produces high quality goods at acceptable prices, Abdumumin has many customers. He sells the doors and window frames from his house. There is also a trading place located in the local market.

In general the business is very successful and generates a stable income for his family.

Now, Abdumumin is planning to employ an additional woodworker so he can expand his business. For this reason, he requests 4,500 Somoni.

Tajikistan is known for its rich history, which includes a key post along the Silk Road and the end of Alexander the Great's rule. It has also produced great thinkers, philosophers, scientists and poets, including Rudaki, Avicenna, Ferdowsi, Omar Khayyam, Jomi, and Rumi. While the people of Tajikistan are working to improve its agricultural production and manufacturing sector, nearly two-thirds of the population still live in abject poverty.
