A loan helped to repair her old house.

Tha's story

Tha, 46, is a married woman with three children living in Angkor Borei district, Takeo province. She is working as a farmer with her husband. Agriculture is the main source of her family's income. She is usually using her spare time helping her spouse in farming activities. Deterioration of grain quality during storage depends on temperature, humidity and oxygen content. Storage facilities can take many forms, depending on the amount of rice to be stored, the purpose of storage, and the location or place to be stored. She is also raising pigs and sells them to the market after three or four months of feeding to earn more additional income.

Currently, her house is lacking and she has requested a loan in the amount of 8,000,000 KHR to repair her old house. With this funds support, she can purchase construction supplies such as bricks, cement and zinc, and pay for labour costs. The advantage of a new roof is that it is waterproof and helps protect when it rains, providing storm protection, clean ceilings, and comfort for living. Thanks to the Kiva lenders for their role in the comprehensive development of women like her, who want to reduce poverty for their families. Her profits enable her to increase her savings and take care of her needs and those of her children.

This loan is special because:

It provides access to clean, renewable energy sources, like solar and biogas.
