A loan helped to buy raw materials for her hammock business to ensure that it continues smoothly despite global economic uncertainty.

Tanyathon's story

Tanyathon lives in the village of Huay Hom in the mountains of Phrae, Thailand. She has two children. One is finishing high school, and the other has graduated from university - something Tanyathon is extremely proud of as higher education was not possible for many of her generation.

Hammock weaving has provided a steady increase in Tanyathon's income that is much needed to support her family. She uses her earnings to pay for household expenses, to pay down her debts and to support her children's education. This loan will ensure that she can invest in materials for the coming year and that her work won't be impacted by the global pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It creates employment opportunities for vulnerable populations living in remote rural areas.
