Nenita's story

Nenita M. is from the village of Salay in the municipality of Angadanan in Isabela Province. She is 48 years old. Nenita is married and has three grown children. To make a living, Nenita owns and operates a general store. The main source of income for the business comes from selling both food and daily use products in the local community. Nenita has been engaged in her business for over 15 years, and she earns approximately 6000 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2008, Nenita joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Nenita has successfully repaid a previous loan of 12,000 PHP from ASKI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional inventory and to add to working capital. Nenita is requesting a new loan of 20,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. This loan will be the fifth loan taken out by Nenita from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.

About ASKI:
ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 29 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolk, and small entrepreneurs.
