Lilia's story

Lilia B. is from the village of Manano, Mallig. She is 52 years old and married with one adult child. To make a living, Lilia has a general store selling a variety of different products. She has been engaged in her business for over 8 years and earns approximately 6,000 PHP a month.

In 2008, Lilia joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan of 20,000 PHP from ASKI which was used to purchase additional products to sell. Lilia is requesting a new loan of 22,000 PHP which will also be used to purchase new items to expand her product offering. This will be the sixth loan taken out by Lilia from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.

About ASKI: ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 29 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolk, and small entrepreneurs.
