A loan helped to get a qualified education in English philology.

Tamuna's story

Tamuna is 21 years old from Batumi city, where she lives with her parents, brother and sister. Tamuna decided to apply for a student loan as she studies at the state university and has no opportunity to meet the educational expenses of her third academic year.

Student loans are the joint project of Kiva and field partner Credo Bank, which gives Georgian students the chance to get an education. Tamuna studies in the English philology faculty and wants to promote English language development in her country, especially her hometown, Batumi, which is an interesting place for many tourists.

Tamuna hopes she will have a good wage after graduating with a baccalaureate to create financial stability for her family.

This loan is special because:

It allows low-income students to pursue education and find jobs before repaying.
