A loan helped to buy additional crates of soda, sugar for passion fruit juice, energy drinks, and drinking water.

Agness's story

Agness is 31 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has one child who is currently in school.

For the past 2 years, Agness has been working hard to manage her beverage business, which sells soft drinks such as passion fruit juice, water, and sodas.

To help expand her business, Agness has requested a loan of 1,200,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy additional crates of soda, sugar for the passion fruit juice, energy drinks, and drinking water, and will help Agness generate greater profits, increase her production, and attract more revenue. She will be able to buy food for her family and also support her child.

Agness hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build a house for rentals.

Agness is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Agness who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
