A loan helped a member to stock up with 32 sacks of charcoal..

Inua Maisha Group's story

Ms. Vikayilira is a client of the microfinance institution Hekima and presides over the village group “INUA MAISHA”; she is a widow, 45 years old, and has no children to support.

A vendor of charcoal, she started this enterprise in 2010 with startup funding from her deceased husband. Later on, she got involved with the Hekima program to support her enterprise and has since been working progressively in it.

With this new loan, she will stock up with 32 sacks of charcoal, and this will bolster her initial capital. The challenge in her work has to do with unpaid debts.

She would like to purchase some cement for finishing her house under construction. So she wishes to thank Hekima and its partners for supporting business owners lacking cash during this global crisis linked to COVID-19. The photo shows only the group leader because of COVID-19, so as to respect social distancing measures.
