A loan of $1,100 helped purchase school supplies and feed for pigs.

Rosa Arcila's story

Rosa Arcila V. is a member of the community bank Unión Progresista. She lives in the Zhimbrug community which belongs to the parish of Santa Ana. The parish is characterized by its warm and kind hearted people who work in agriculture and raise animals in a cold climate.

Rosa Arcila joined the community bank one year ago, and since then she has formed a great friendship with all of her fellow bank members. She works at home bringing up her children and caring for the house, taking advantage of her time by also raising pigs, guinea pigs and chickens which she uses to run her business.

Rosa is 45 years old, married and has six children of 24, 23, 22, 20, 15 and 4 years of age. Her first three children work and study at school, her fourth child studies at university and also works and her 15 year old daughter studies at school. Her husband works as a driver and has his own bus; with his income they have been able to build their own house.

Rosa’s loan will go towards purchasing school supplies for her daughter and feed for the pigs. Her dream is to run a kiosk from her home.
