A loan of $300 helped to buy pea and potato seeds and contract workers to help with planting.

Zenovia's story

Zenovia, who is 64 years old, lives in her own house with 5 of her children. The rest live by themselves and work in the city. When she was very young she learned the farming techniques necessary for a productive harvest. It is for this reason that she currently plants peas, potatoes, corn and other vegetables. She says that she likes this work a lot because she works with her son and together they keep watch of the crops every day starting at sun rise. She says that the reward of her constant labor is to watch during harvest time since she gets good quality fresh products which she sells at regular prices to the wholesalers who come from the city. The part she doesn't like is the many times is when they don't treat her crops adequately and the crops are infected with plagues of insects. She sadly remembers one time when she lost almost all of her products for this reason. As she is a very enterprising woman who always thinks about the future, she already has a plan to plant in larger quantities to increase her earnings. This is the third time she has gotten a loan with MFP and she is very thankful to all the people who maD. this loan possible and allowed her to continue progressing. Also, she feels very satisfied with the work of her communal group because all the members are very organized and responsible. Zenovia plans on investing the loan she is requesting in buying pea and potato seeds. Also for this season she hopes to contract workers to produce in larger quantities and, in this way, she hopes to progress.
