Kantuta Group's story

The communal bank "Kantuta" is a long-established group that is starting its 14th loan cycle. It is part of the Pro Mujer central office in Villa Exaltacion. Gimena is the president of the group.

Gimena, along with the rest of her group members, has taken loans on a number of different occasions. She is a street vendor who has been selling clothing for 5 years. She is now requesting a loan of 4,500 Bolivianos which she will invest in the purchase of merchandise.

This central bank is comprised of 10 women and one man. They have a variety of businesses such as the sale of: clothing, cosmetics, food, carafes, milkshakes, telephone cards and other items, internet services and items made of macrame.
