A loan helped a member to stock up on 'pagne' cloth in bulk.

Mufariji Mwema Group's story

Ms. Antoinette is a client of the microfinance institution Hekima and presides over the village group “MAFARIJI MWEMA”. She is married, 60 years old, and the mother of six children, all provided with schooling. Her husband is repairman.

A vendor of 'pagne' cloth, she began this enterprise fifteen years ago with startup funding from her husband. Later on, she got involved with the Hekima program to support her enterprise and has since been progressing in it.

With this new loan, she is going to get supplies of ‘pagne’ cloth in bulk, and this will bolster her initial capital. The challenge in her work has to do with missing customers.

She would like to feed her family and for her children to continue studying. So, she wishes to say thank you to Hekima and its partners for supporting business owners lacking cash during this global crisis related to COVID-19. The photo shows only the group leader due to COVID-19, so as to respect social distancing measures.
