Evangeline R. is from the village of Pontod, Mahinog, Camiguin Province. She is 21 years old. Evangeline is single and has one infant child. Evangeline makes and sells specialty food products like chicken and pork barbecue in the local community. Evangeline has been engaged in her business for over one year and earns approximately 8,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month from it.
In 2010, Evangeline joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to do business. Evangeline is requesting a new loan of 4,000 PHP which will be used to purchase raw ingredients needed to make products for sale. This loan will be the first loan taken out by Evangeline from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand it.
HSPFI is one of the accredited partners of Opportunity International in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City and is reaching out to the poor households of Northern Mindanao.
