Carmen Hermelinda's story

Sra. Carmen Hermelinda M. is a member of the Communal Bank “Medio Ejido”. She lives in the Orquídeas sector of the city of Cuenca. The city is known for its rich culture, its historical center, its various cuisines, its beautiful vegetation, and the warmth and friendliness of its people.

Sra. Carmen Hermelinda is participating in her second loan cycle with Fundación ESPOIR. She has been working at a restaurant for two years, where her schedule is from 9am to 4pm. During her free time she makes handmade party decorations and plush dolls. She has been making crafts for ten years and learned this skill by taking a few courses.

Doña Carmen is 39 years old, married, and has three children (ages 23, 20, and 14). Her oldest child is married and lives independently. The second child is working and helps with the household expenses. Her youngest child attends high school in the city.

Her new loan will be invested in the purchase craft materials such as ribbon, silicon, and other products. Carmen says her goal is to have her own house.
