A loan of $200 helped to buy seed and manure.

Victoria's story

Victoria lives in the community of Cajamarca, Chimayo district, Anta province, Cusco department with her husband and four children. The city of Cachinayo is located 25 minutes from the city of Cusco.

Victoria has been a farmer and has raised cattle for 17 years and does very well. She raises small farm animals like chickens and guinea pigs. During the mornings and afternoons she takes her animals to pasturage and does the milking. She and her husband, Aurelio, have a field where they grow corn and potatoes which they then sell in the farmers markets and in city markets in Cusco.

Victoria expects to get 500 new soles in her next loan that she’ll use to buy seed and manure.

The “Señor de Ccoyllority Cachimayo” (Lord of Ccoyllority Cachimayo) communal bank has been in operation for three and a half years and Victoria has been a member for three years and does well.

The bank members are devoted to Taytacha Ccoyllority (Lord of the Shining Snow) and this is why they named their communal bank thus.
