A loan helped purchase 3 new vending machines for my business startup.

Ryan's story

Hey there, my name is Ryan! Thank you for checking out my Kiva application! I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I was born with a rare birth condition called arthrogryposis multiplex congenital. It affects my arms, hands, and wrists; limiting some of my motion and strength. I don't know life any differently though so it was easy for me to adapt and live independently.

At the age of 17, I moved out of my parents house and started working full time in sales while finishing high school. Shortly after, I realized that if I was going to succeed, I needed something more. I knew I needed to start my own business, but I wasn't sure how, or what type of business to start. I needed to acquire more assets and limit all possible liabilities.

At the age of 21, I purchased my first home with my Fiancée, Kirsten. This gave us more space to start a family, but was not an asset. This was a liability because I was living in the home and not making any money from it. I got interested in the vending machine business after doing some online research. After finding out that the average location makes $247 profit per month, I knew right away what I wanted to do and where my passion lies.

After hours, and hours, of research, online classes, and books, I finally put together a plan. I have reached out to local businesses and 3 have agreed to allow me to place a machine. A call center, barbershop, and sales office. The problem is, I need funds for 3 new machines.

This loan is special because:

It supports a starting entrepreneur to create their dream business.
