Nelia America's story

Nelia is 54 years old, widowed and lives with her daughter in the Tejedores sector of the agricultural district of Tambogrande, whose main production is fruit for export. Tambogrande belongs to the province of Pirua which is located in the region of the same name, three hours from the city of Chiclayo, the capital of the Lambayeque region.

Nelia sells groceries and other essential items from a store which she has set up in her home. She uses the income from the store to sustain her family. The store is situated in front of a medical centre in her community which people come to from the surrounding villages. The store is important for them as it provides them with products they can use on a daily basis that they would not have access to otherwise.

Nelia aims to look after her customers and offer them quality products, which has resulted in an increase in demand for her products. To acquire more products and satisfy her customers, she has decided to apply for the first time to Edpyme Alternativa for a loan of 700 nuevos soles.

Nelia is a strong and hardworking woman who was able to carry on in spite of the loss of her husband and her son. Her neighbours and acquaintances in the community consider her to be peaceful and responsible.
