A loan of $550 helped to purchase supplies and fertilzer needed to take care of his cocoa crops.

Julio's story

Julio is 36 years old and married with one son who attends school. The family lives together in the beautiful jungle near Cusco, located at the top of the Peruvian jungle zone. They have their own home there made from adobe. Initially, the agricultural business that Julio had wasn't bringing in enough money. However, after some time he was able to turn things around. Today, the largest wholesalers ask for the cocoa he grows due to the quality he offers, and this has enabled Julio to earn the income he needs to support his family. He runs his small business and cultivates his cocoa crops together with his wife, but during harvest time he needs to hire additional laborers. Julio usually sells his cocoa in the central markets of his community, and his daily routine is to work from 7 in the morning until 6 in the evening. His future plans include opening his own shop to generate more income. This will be Julio's third loan with MFP, and he commits to continue making his payments on time. He also emphasizes the good work that the communal bank does. With the loan he is requesting, Julio will purchase supplies and fertilizer needed to give his cocoa crops adequate care.
