A loan of $725 helped purchase ingredients and products to prepare typical stews.

Emilio's story

Emilio is 63 years old. He is married and has one daughter, Nidia, who is 12 years old. They live together in the community of Villa Quintiarina, located on the edge of the Peruvian jungle, where he has his own home built of wood. Emilio recalls that during a number of years he helped his parents, planting and harvesting cacao. Eventually he had his own farm plot that his parents left to him. Since then, he has worked the land, producing cacao as well as getting to know the buyers, which has produced good results. Currently his cacao product is well positioned and he has constant sales, due to the quality and the efficient work he performs for each of his customers. Emilio works with a laborer, who helps care for his cacao plants, and his daily routine is from 6 in the morning until 6 in the evening. He also has a restaurant where he sells tipical meals to the general public, which his wife runs. His plan for the future is to remodel his restaurant, adding new tables, chairs and equipment in order to provide greater comfort to his customers and, in this way, increase his sales considerably. This is his eighth loan with MFP, and he promises to continue meeting all of his payment obligations. Moreover all of the members who make up his communal bank are responsible with their payments. He will use this loan to purchase drinks, meat, vegetables, and ingredients so that he can continue preparing the typical jungle stews that his clients like.
