Zoila Luz's story

Zoila was born in Urubamba, an 70 minutes away from the city of Cusco. She lives there still with her husband and their three children. All three children are now independent. Zoila is 73 years old and it was 40 years ago that she opened a restaurant in a section of her home. She serves snacks, breakfast, an a la carte menu and other prepared foods. She works 7 days a week from 5 in the morning until last at night, or until the food is sold out. It has been many years since she first started her business and it has been very successful thanks to her hard work.

In 1994 the community bank named The Man of Torrechayo was established and Rosa was one of the founding members. The members were all religious so they named the community bank after the patron saint of the city of Urubamba.
