A loan of $1,125 helped buying nutritional products wholesale and stocking seasonal merchandise.

Policarpo's story

For Policarpo P. V., his work as a teacher never ends. Even though he's retired from teaching, he continues practicing his vocation, but now he advises his students on everything relating to nutrition. At 61 years old, Professor Policarpo works marketing nutritional products to improve the body's defenses while energizing and balancing it. He also sells a variety of additional products, like clothes, shoes, and small electrical appliances.

He began his business in 2005 when he was a teacher in the Departamento de Bolívar, but after retiring, he began working more persistently. He is always available to work every day so he can make more money. His customer base consists of friends from his teaching days, relatives, recommended customers, and employees with good payment habits.

This Kiva loan is his first with the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. With the loan, he will buy nutritional products wholesale in cash, as well as seasonal merchandise of clothes, shoes, and small electrical appliance in order to make the most of his customer's high demand during the second half of the year.

His goal is to continue increasing his sales so he can improve his quality of life. Policarpo really enjoys his shop's location, since it is in the epicenter of shopping in southern Barranquilla near the Atlético Junior's football stadium, Estadio Metropolitano.
