A loan helped a clean-energy technology business to access a reimbursable government grant to pay employees.

Stefano's story

Being born and raised in Costa Rica instilled a deep desire in me to improve the environmental sustainability of our society as a whole. I studied in the U.S., at Carnegie-Mellon University, and prepared to be an entrepreneur capable of leveraging highly technical solutions and making them a commercial reality. I knew that I was not going to do this by myself, and so I focused on finding a team that was as motivated and passionate as I was to solve the world's most pressing climate problems.

Farm to Flame Energy is the result of this vision. We are a team of highly dedicated engineers working to develop innovative methods to transform biomass waste materials, such as yard trimmings, wood debris, and agricultural waste, into high-quality heating fuel that can be used to generate heat and electricity. We are passionate about the global impact our technology can have, as we can address the urgent climate crisis we are facing by providing affordable renewable energy.

As a co-owner and the Chief Financial Officer, my focus is to secure funding to continue progressing our technology. This entails participating in multiple business accelerator programs, pitching competitions, and applying to many sustainability-focused grants. It is my responsibility that every dollar raised for the company is used wisely and moves us one step closer towards our goal of decarbonizing the world.

This loan is special because:

It supports a business in developing new technologies.
